Elvin and I are proud to bring you part 5 of ‘The Life and Music of Elvin Johns’, featuring the fifth part of his autobiography and his interpretation of the Gershwin/Heyward classic ‘Summertime’. Composed in 1934 for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess, ‘Summertime’ is regarded as one of the finest songs ever written by Gershwin, and has become a jazz standard.
